SHOPPERS and staff have given a battling youngster a fundraising boost

Middleton Grange Shopping Centre held a raffle in aid of Talia Foster after choosing the Hartlepool youngster’s appeal as their chosen charity for the year.

Generous shoppers got behind the cause as they bought tickets for a draw, which quickly raised £123.

The money will help fund specialist equipment and vital physiotherapy sessions for three-year-old Talia.

The youngster, who has often featured in the Hartlepool Mail on a number of occasions, bravely battles against a daily ordeal of seizures.

She is forced to take eight different types of medication every day to treat various conditions.

Mark Rycraft, Middleton Grange Shopping Centre manager, is delighted to support her cause.

Mr Rycraft, who gave the youngster a festive treat at Christmas when he turned up at her home dressed as Santa, said: “The raffle went really well and we have been overwhelmed by the response of out customers.

“Our target is £800 for the year, so this gets us that bit closer.

“It doesn’t end here and we have a lot more things coming up.

“It’s only small amounts when you think of the care Talia needs, but we believe we have an important role to play in the community and supporting charities and people like Talia.”

More than £34,000 has so far been raised in support of Talia.

That money has gone towards numerous trips to specialist physiotherapy centres around the country and equipment in the family home.
