Rail delays for holiday

RAIL passengers are facing delays because of engineering works over the coming bank holiday weekend.

Work on the East Coast main line mean trains travelling towards London will have journey times extended by an hour on Sunday, May 6.

And local services operated by Northern Rail will also be subject to engineering work.

Buses will replace trains between Hartlepool and Middlesbrough on Saturday and Sunday of the holiday weekend.

l RAIL services were delayed after a train broke down on the line at Hartlepool.

Grand Central and Northern Rail services were affected by the break down which happened at around 6pm yesterday.

Buses were laid on to take passengers between Middlesbrough and Sunderland.

The incident was cleared after around three hours.

Grand Central services were disrupted between Kings Cross and Doncaster this morning after a person was hit by a train between Welwyn Garden City and Stevenage.
