Raising cash for Macmillan is a piece of cake

CANCER charity officials have thanked the residents of a retirement village for a fantastic night of fundraising.

A superb £1,300 was raised for Macmillan during the charity night at Hartfields in Hartlepool. One of the highlights was a Christmas cake which was baked by Sue Jackson who comes from Seaton Carew. It was raffled on the day of the Christmas party and raised £243.
Other events on the night included a fashion show, and a musical show performed by the Hartfields staff. There was also a tombola. Pictured are, from left to right, Fran Charnock, Maureen Smith and Sheila Gleeson.
Macmillan Hartlepool spokesman Derek Redman said: “The cake itself was an amazing piece of artwork and on the day, there were all sorts of things going on.
“Hartfields have been great supporters and over the years, they have raised more than £5,000 for us.”
