A HEALTH campaigner is urging thousands of people to send emails to Whitehall urging ministers to shelve plans for a new hospital.

Hartlepool Independent councillor Geoff Lilley has drafted an email calling on Health Secretary Andrew Lansley to block plans to spend millions of pounds on a new hospital at Wynyard through a Private Finance Initiative (PFI).

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust’s board of directors rubber-stamped the plans at a meeting last Thursday.

Now he has forwarded an email to Mr Lansley and 70 other people, in the hope they in turn will forward it to the MP and their friends in a ‘snowball effect’.
