The world-famous Flying Scotsman brought train spotters out in force as it visited the North East.

Railway enthusiasts turned out in numbers yesterday to see the locomotive, which is doing a UK tour after a £4.2million refurbishment.

Details of its schedule were withheld to try to prevent a repeat of the scenes in February, when some keen photographers strayed onto live tracks in a bid to get the perfect picture.

Many enthusiasts still managed to get some great pictures of the train, including Peter Ramsey, who sent us these two great shots.

The first is the loco heading north from Durham towards the Newton Hall curve after a stop at Durham station.

The second shows it on the southbound return visit at Ouston Junction between Birtley and Chester le Street.
