Reveller hurt in assault

A REVELLER was taken to hospital with cuts to his head after violence broke out.

The man was rushed to the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton after the incident in Church Street, Hartlepool, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We were called to Church Street by the police at 2.20am on Sunday to a report of a male who had been assaulted.

“We transported one patient to North Tees hospital’s accident and emergency department.”

Police said his injuries were not thought to be serious.
