RNLI in cliff rescue drama

EMERGENCY services were called to cliffs following concerns for the welfare of a man.

The man went down the cliff at Horden Point, in Horden, at around 5am on Sunday.

It is believed he had got out of an ambulance and ran towards the cliffs.

Coastguards lowered him to the beach using ropes and he was picked up by Hartlepool’s volunteer inshore lifeboat.

He was brought to Hartlepool where he was taken to hospital to be checked out.
