A NUMBER of rural roads in Hartlepool will be closed to traffic while resurfacing takes place throughout this week.

The work, which is part of Hartlepool Borough Council’s highways maintenance programme, will involve five separate sections of road around the town’s outlying villages.

Drivers are warned that the C130 Coal Lane, from the pumping station to the borough boundary, will be affected tomorrow.

Dalton Back Lane, from Blue House to 600ft north of Fernbeck, will be closed on Thursday and Friday, while Dalton Back Lane, from Brierton Heights Farm to Three Gates, will be closed on Friday.

On Saturday, Dalton Lane, from the village to Mayfield House will be affected on Saturday and Sunday, and on Monday and Tuesday, the affected area is Worset Lane, from Naisberry crossroads to Waterside Way.

Another resurfacing scheme, on the A178 Tees Road, between Elizabeth Way at Seaton Carew and the Sports Domes, will involve the use of two-way temporary traffic lights on Wednesday and Thursday.

The council’s senior traffic technician Peter Nixon said: “Signed diversions will be in operation on all routes whilst this work is being carried out.”
