One lucky lottery player from Hartlepool got a nice Christmas bonus after scooping a hospice scheme’s rollover.
The Hartlepool & District Lottery’s jackpot stood at £8,250 when it was won by the unnamed player in the draw on Friday, December.
The prize had not been won for several months and went up by another £250 for every week that went by.
The rollover currently stands at £750 for the next draw on Friday, January 1.
The biggest winner in the draw on Christmas Eve was a player from Hartlepool who won £1,000 for ticket number 64735.
Another 10 players won a £20 third prize and 15 pocketed a £10 note.
The lottery is one of the hospice’s main fundraisers and helps to pay for vital palliative care services for local people with life-limiting illnesses.
It costs £2.34 million a year with £1,780,000 needing to be raised through the local community and other initiatives.
