HARTLEPOOL United’s youngest ever supporter has become the first member of a new junior supporters scheme.
Beaming Ross Cooper became the club’s youngest-ever season ticket holder in May at the tender age of eight-days-old and six months on he is now helping to re-launch the Junior Poolies Club.
Born back in May, Ross made headlines across the country when his father John bought him a £100 season ticket for Pools when he was just over a week old.
Now his doting dad has helped underline his son’s love for Pools by signing him up as the first member of the all-new scheme.
Lifelong Pools fan John, 35, said: “We could tell by the look on his face when we opened his Junior Poolie pack that he’s going to be a true Pools fan.
“As soon as I saw that the club had launched a new Junior Poolie Club I wanted to sign Ross up because even though I live in Nottingham I’ll be bringing him up on blue and white.
“He already loves the Pools Monkey and scarf and hopefully he’ll grow up to love Pools as much me and his older brother Ewan,” added John, who is married to Karen 33, an occupational therapist from Glasgow.
The former Kingsley and Brierton school pupil has lived in Nottingham for 15 years and works in Derby for software company Orcus.
The youngster, who weighed 9lbs and 6ozs, only came into the world on May 26, but his proud dad, John, wasted no time in crowning him a Poolie when he bought a season ticket for the youngster while getting one for himself and his eldest son, three-year-old Ewan.
Pools defender Peter Hartley, who is Junior Poolies Captain, was delighted to welcome Ross on board.
He said: “The pictures of Ross enjoying his Junior Poolie pack are brilliant.
“We’ve got a special competition running at the moment too meaning anyone who joins between now and 31st December gets free entry in to a draw to be mascot at The Vic.
“So I’d encourage as many people as possible to join the Junior Poolies because it’s great value and we’re going to have a lot of fun throughout the season.”
Junior Poolies membership costs £15 for 12 months.
Application forms are available in the Ticket Office or online.
