Roundabout oil spill

AN emergency crew was called to deal with a hazardous roundabout after engine oil was spilled across its carriageway.

The liquid had been dropped by a passing vehicle on the A179 roundabout that joins Hart Road and Easington Road in Hartlepool.

The slippy substance was deemed a danger to motorists and traffic was briefly held up as firefighters from the town’s Stranton Fire Station cleaned up the mess at 12.15pm yesterday.

Fire chiefs say the vehicle responsible did not stop and its driver probably did not realise the problem they had caused.
