BENTLEY the bulldog sums up the mood of a nation after watching England’s World Cup flops exit the competition.

Bentley had been kitted out in his England strip and his owner Paul Tumilty took the picture for the Mail’s Pedigree Chums feature which has seen dogs from across the town dressed in England kit to get into the World Cup spirit.

But with the Three Lions doomed after two defeats from their opening two games, it’s little wonder that brassed-off Bentley wasn’t in the mood.

Paul, from Lancaster Road, said: “I thought we had a chance of beating Uruguay and getting through to the knockout stages, but they weren’t good enough.

“Bentley looked good in his England strip, and seemed to enjoy it when Rooney equalised. You can see what he thought of the final result just by looking at the photo.

“I think we’ll put the strip back in the drawer for another four years until the next World Cup now.”
