Sam Collins will take charge of Hartlepool United at Fleetwood Town tonight after boss Ronnie Moore flew to Spain to be with his daughter after she was diagnosed with pneumonia.

Moore’s daughter Charlotte has been taken ill during a holiday in Spain with his wife Ang.

The Pools boss has flown over there today, with assistant manager Collins taking charge of the team away at Fleetwood Town tonight in the first round of the Capital One Cup (KO 7.45pm).

A club spokesman said: “Assistant Manager Sam Collins will take charge of the team at Fleetwood Town this evening as boss Ronnie Moore tends to a family emergency.

“Ian McGuckin has also travelled with the squad for the Capital One Cup tie at Highbury Stadium to assist Collins in the dugout.

“Mooore’s daughter has been taken ill during a holiday in Spain and everybody at the Club would like to wish her a very speedy recovery.”

Collins had two spells in caretaker charge at Pools last season following Colin Cooper’s resignation and the sacking of Paul Murray.

Pools started the season with a 2-0 win over Morecambe on Saturday.
