A HEARTWARMING new comedy is set to delight audiences when it takes to the stage at Billingham Forum.
The show, called 50 Days of Grey, is set in a sleepy Yorkshire backwater where the women folk are all trying to spice up their love lives after being inspired by the naughty novels of EL James.
Its centres around best friends San, who needs to save her marriage, and Fran, who is looking for a man.
San is played by Sue Hodge, who is best known for playing Mimi in the BBC sitcom ‘Allo ‘Allo, while Julie Fox, star of The Rocky Horror Show, is Fran.
The story takes place against the backdrop of the 2012 Olympics. But when every day rains the locals discover the latest saucy book inspiring them to relive its contents but with hilarious results.
Author and director Andrew Lynford said: “There have been few books in the last year that have taken the UK and the world by storm and these books make the ingredients for great comedy.
“It’s been a lot of fun writing the play and now it’s on tour, it’s been loved by audiences up and down the country.
“The actors are enjoying every moment of performing the play and they have so much fun with all the saucy props that are on stage every night.”
Sue Hodge added: “Through the whole of my career, I haven’t had so much fun in any theatre production.”
50 Days of Grey is on at Billingham Forum on Monday, September 30 and Tuesday, October 1, at 7.30pm.
All seats are £18 for adults and £16 concessions. The show is not recommended for under 16s.
