A teenager was subjected to a sustained attack after crashing into a man who was also on his bike.
Police are appealing for information after a 14-year-old boy who was cycling along Wooler Road in Hartlepool was assaulted after colliding with another cyclist.
The incident occurred on Saturday at the junction of Elm Grove between 7pm and 7.30pm when the victim was riding his bike in the rain.
He collided with another cyclist and both cyclists came off their bikes.
Man who had been on his bike became abusive and assaulted the boy by punching him several times in the face before riding off in the direction of Catcote and Summerhill Road.
As a result of the assault, the victim had bruising to the eye but did not receive medical treatment.
The suspect is described as white with short dark hair, of slim build and in his late 20s to early 30s.
He was wearing a high visibility jacket and a blue polo shirt.
He had a Hartlepool accent and was riding a black bike.
