Schoolgirl, 12, suffers broken ankle after being hit by car in Hartlepool

A 12-YEAR-OLD girl was taken to hospital this morning after being hit by a car.

She was hit by the vehicle in Easington Road, Hartlepool, close to the roundabout.

A passerby contacted the emergency services at 8.20am and police and ambulance paramedics were sent to the scene.

The youngster is believed to have suffered a broken ankle and was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, by ambulance.

A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance service said: “We were called by a passerby who said a pedestrian had been knocked over.

“It was a 12-year-old girl who had been hit by a vehicle and there were no major injuries described.”
