SANTAS galore are signing up for a festive fun run in aid of a hospice.

And delighted organisers at Hartlepool & District Hospice say interest in this year’s Santa Fun Run is going so well, they expect to see more than 100 joggers on the start line.

The popular annual event will this year be held in Ward Jackson Park in Hartlepool.

Organiser Greg Hildreth said: “The run will be started by Stuart Drummond at 11am on Sunday, December 2. Registrations are coming in well and we are expecting to see well over 100 Santas and their little helpers taking part on the day.”

The starting point will be at The Place in the Park within Ward Jackson Park, it is also the finishing point for the run.

The venue is also hosting a Christmas fair, Santa’s Grotto and offering a free mince pie with every hot drink bought on the day.

“They will also be making a donation to the hospice from their takings on the day,” said Greg, the hospice’s events facilitator.

The half-mile fun run is open to people of all ages and organisers stress it is not a race.

The cost to enter is £5 for adults and £3 for under 16s. The registration fees include a free Santa suit for adults and choice of Santa hat or Rudolph ears as well as a badge for children.

All runners receive a personalised Santa Fun Run certificate.

Greg added: “We’re all really looking forward to this one, which is one of my favourite events.

“There will be a great Christmassy atmosphere and I would like to see as many people as possible getting into the festive spirit and helping us to raise money to support our patients.”
