TWELVE jobs have been created with the opening of a new shop.
Screwfix has opened its new store in Winchester Drive, Peterlee, which is the chain’s 282nd store to open nationwide.
It comes after the Mail launched our Work in Progress campaign to highlight the plight of jobseekers and the bid to help thewwm find work.
Earlier this week the Mail reported the latest figures show the Easington constituency had 3,355 people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance, which accounts for 6.3 per cent of people of working age in the area.
Screwfix store manager Richard McGoven said: “This is our first store in Peterlee and it is great news, creating 12 jobs locally and giving tradesmen better access to all the trade essentials in one place so they are fully prepared for any job.
“At Screwfix we pride ourselves on the speed, reliability and convenience of our service and are looking forward to welcoming the tradesmen of Peterlee, as well as local experienced DIY-er’s who are also part of our loyal customer base.”
The store in Peterlee offers customers a quick and easy way to purchase products by using Screwfix’s Click & Collect service to buy online and collect items from the store.
