The seas and the oceans

I'll fill your rock pools with water,

Then line them with fresh green seaweed.

A splash of oceanic salt to taste,

Creating a nursery for young fish to breed.

I’ll wash your shingle and roll it round,

Then add sea shells here and there.

Flotsam and jetsam I’ll deliver twice a day,

A beach combers dream to be combed with care.

I’ll clean your sands with my frothy white waves,

Then iron them with heavy green rollers.

I’ll create beautiful patterns with inshore currents,

And build sand hills for sandpipers and strollers.

I will feed oyster catchers and waders,

With a banquet at every spring tide.

And when the moon shines over still waters,

You can watch my cormorants climb and dive.

And when the stars in the heavens shine,

I will show you my own milky way.

Glittering fluorescence will circle and sparkly,

With a magical luminance of oceanic display.

There are times I get very frustrated,

With the sun the winds and the moon.

Each demanding I obey their wishes,

Creating great storms, tsunamis and typhoons.
