Second boy arrested in arson probe at Hartlepool primary school

Police investigating a blaze which tore through part of a school have arrested a second teenager on suspicion of arson.

The blaze on Sunday night has destroyed the Year 3 classroom, the nursery and a newly kitted out play area at Rift House Primary in Masefield Road, Hartlepool.

Police have now confirmed they have arrested a second boy on suspicion of arson.

The 14-year- old boy was arrested this morning and has since been released from custody with no bail conditions.

A 13-year- old boy was arrested yesterday and he was also released from custody with no bail conditions.

Cleveland Police, which is working on a joint investigation with Cleveland Fire Brigade , has said inquiries are ongoing in relation to the fire and officers.
