See Hartlepool funnyman Danny Posthill's impression of Donald Trump
A Hartlepool funnyman is Trumping his contemporaries '“ with a little bit of help from the controversial American President.
Comedy impressionist Danny Posthill, who shot to fame two years ago on hit ITV show Britain’s Got Talent, has been going down a storm with his take on Donald Trump.
Complete with suit and wig, Danny has been sending audiences into fits of laughter with his impression of Trump – along with scores of other famous faces – in shows up and down the land.
Danny, who grew up in the Rift House and Fens areas of Hartlepool, said: “A lot of people don’t like Trump but I was over the moon he got in for the sake of my career!
“That has sorted four years of work for me! Seriously, though, it has helped a lot.
“Everyone wants to hear the Trump impression and I’ve even done a few events, and meet and greets, in the whole costume.
“It’s quite fun, but also scary, because Trump has so much security around him all the time, but if someone mistook me for him, I wouldn’t have the same protection!
“I even had an invite to go to the Middle East as Trump recently, but I don’t think that would have been a good idea.”
Danny has been travelling the circuit since Britain’s Got Talent helped to kickstart his career.
He has supported several sporting legends in shows along the way, including football’s Paul Gascoigne, John Barnes and Ian Wright, and boxing’s Floyd Mayweather.
Under new manager Anita Elizabeth Holmes, Danny is set for his own tour next year – something he can barely contain his excitement for.
He added: “I’m really enjoying myself.
“Thanks to my manager I’m headlining comedy festivals, which I never thought I’d be doing at this stage of my career, and the tour next year is going to be a dream.
“I’m really hoping that I’ll get to do the Town Hall in Hartlepool.
“At the moment though I’m just thoroughly enjoying everything and can’t wait for the tour.”
Ahead of the American Election last year, Danny even appeared on Sky News as Trump.
Among his other highlights recently have included an appearance on the celebrity edition of TV show Pointless and working with hero Bobby Davro, who has been lending Danny some hints and tips.
