A WOMEN’S self-defence class is being held from tonight.
Every Monday from 7pm-8pm, women can learn safe and effective self defence skills from North-East Tang Soo Do Academy martial arts instructor Charlie Featherstone.
Charlie said: “There’s a need for people to have self-awareness of potential dangers in today’s society, but the class isn’t martial arts-based, it’s more about common sense and teaching strategies.
“You don’t have to be physically fit to attend, we just want to teach people the minimum they need to know to get away in an attack.”
The programme is an educational one, teaching women how to understand pre-attack rituals, how victims are selected and aims to give a mental edge in common scenarios of potential danger.
The class, at Brougham Community Centre in Brougham Terrace, Hartlepool, welcomes all ages and fitness levels.
