Young Oliver – who turns one on Wednesday, April 2 – suffers from severe epilepsy, with up to 100 seizures a day.

His parents Danielle Coils, 28, and Rik Osborn, 29, of Wadham Close, say he is “just like a newborn” as he is always so heavily sedated due to his condition and they are desperately seeking medication to slow down the rate of the epilepsy.

Matt, 45, who is now a Sky Sports pundit, will be at Peterlee Catholic Club, in Grampian Drive, on Thursday, April 10, from 7pm-midnight.

The event will also feature comedian Jimmy Earl and Jerry Earl as the MC and there will be a raffle and an auction.

Tickets are £35 and include a meal.

So far, around 100 tickets have been sold, but some are still available.

Rik’s childhood friends John Chisholm, 29, and Chris Baker, 25, who is Oliver’s godfather were able to book le Tissier.

Rik said: “It’s fantastic, we are hoping to do it on an annual basis.

“The landlady of the club, Pauline Cowie, and Alan Edwards, on the club’s committee, who I have known since I was a child, have let us have the hall.

“The support has been fantastic.

“Matt le Tissier is a well-respected footballer who stayed at Southampton all of his career, to the point where he got the Freedom of Southampton.

“It was great for John and Chris to be able to book him, everyone watches him on Soccer Saturday – the likes of him and Paul Merson seem good craic, it should be brilliant.”

Former chimney sweep Bob Waite, of Blackhall, raised £1,500 by using nothing but his bus pass to get from Land’s End to Berwick.
