PUPILS enjoyed emotional farewells to their time at school with the start of the summer proms season.
Hundreds of Year 11 students at three secondary schools across Hartlepool and East Durham were the first to get dressed up in their dazzling gowns and best suits.
Hartlepool’s English Martyrs School held its big night at Sedgefield’s Hardwick Hall.
Easington Community Science College chose Lumley Castle, in Chester-le-Street, with Dene Community College of Technology, from Peterlee, travelling to Ramside Hall, near Durham City.
Here are the first pictures from their proms in our slideshow.
There is no let up either with St Bede’s School and Shotton Hall Academy, in Peterlee, holding their farewells on Friday night.
First pictures from both events are due to appear in Saturday’s Mail.
Dozens of photographs from every prom throughout Hartlepool and East Durham will also appear in souvenir supplements once the season ends next month.
