HUNDREDS of residents enjoyed fun in the sun at two of the Headland Carnival’s most popular events over the weekend.
The cute little’uns were out in force at the carnival’s Bonny Baby contest on Saturday morning, while the Headland was awash with hundreds of people out to enjoy the games, rides, performances and activities on offer at the family fun day in Town Square.
Headland Carnival committee members were “delighted” with the weekend’s events and are now hoping the sun continues to beam down as activities come thick and fast over the next week.
The weekend kicked off at Headland Social Club, in Throston Street, for the Bonny Baby competition, and it was three sets of proud parents who left delighted after their children had been crowned winners.
Oliver George Wilkins was named as the winner in the category for babies up to one-year-old while the one to three-year-old group was won by Darci Ellet. And there was no competition blues for Jack Pearce who entered the competition dressed as a smurf.
His outfit clearly impressed judges and he was named as the winner in three-five year old category.
“We had a great turn out and all of the kids who took part were absolutely fantastic,” said a committee spokesman.
Many of the children who took part and their families were back on the Headland for the “brilliant” fun day yesterday. Rides, tombolas, crafts and games were all enjoyed while the Hartlepool Hawks cheerleaders and Chelsea Lupton School of Dance put on impressive displays.
