A HARTLEPOOL teenager has raised more than £400 for a hospice.

Miss Tees Valley 2014/15 finalist Sophie Hewitson, 17, raised the sum for the Butterwick Hospice as part of her challenge in the compet-ition.

The greatest fundraiser will win the Miss Catwalk for a Cause Award and be fast tracked through to the Top 10 of the competition.

Sophie’s coffee morning was held at St Hilda’s Church and organisers described her efforts as “an absolutely fantastic achievement.” Sophie is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Hartlepool’s Alexandra Devine, who won the competition and went onto win the Miss Intercontinental England 2013 title. She is now a Miss Tees Valley director.

The 27 finalists will learn their fate when the grand finals of the competition are held on Saturday, January 17.

The grand final will be held at the Swan Hotel in Billingham.

It will be a gala-style event with catwalk fashion show and other live entertain-ment.
