Spotlight on sea defences

A PUBLIC meeting to discuss coastal defence work is set to take place tonight.

Hartlepool Borough Council has drawn up plans to protect the Town Wall area of the Headland against the effects of coastal erosion and rising sea levels, subject to Government funding.

The public meeting, which will be attended by Mayor Stuart Drummond, is due to take place tonight in the Borough Hall, on the Headland, at 6pm.

There will be a presentation by consultants Scott Wilson on the proposals for a flood defence wall parallel with the Town Wall and a presentation by the Environment Agency on the revisions it has made to the areas of the Headland which it considers to be flood risk zones.
