COMMUNITY groups are being urged to help spread the word about recycling.
Durham County Council is looking for venues to host information displays aimed at encouraging local people to recycle as much of their household waste as possible.
The information in the displays give details on recycling, home composting and tips on reducing the amount of waste produced.
A number of venues have already agreed to host the displays and the council’s strategic waste team is hoping to hear from others who would be interested in helping to spread the word.
Recycling displays have already been booked for venues including Trimdon Grange Community Centre, off Salters Lane, until September 17 and the Shotton Hall Academy, Waveney Road, Peterlee from September 17 to October 1.
The display will also be at a series of drop in events being held in Horden as part of a Community Action Pilot Scheme. These will take place at Horden Social Welfare Centre on October 2, 9, 16 and 23 between 5pm and 7pm and on October 3, 10, 17 and 24 between 11am and 1pm.
Any organisations or centres interested in hosting a recycling information display should contact Durham County Council’s strategic waste management team on 03000 266 112 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
