A HARTLEPOOL theatre group was delighted to welcome a West End star to one of its sessions.
Actress Suzanne Richardson took time out of her busy schedule to spend an evening with the members of Hartlepool Stage Society.
The group – which was delighted to have such a talented and highly-respected star pay them a visit – is currently rehearsing for a production of the famous musical Acorn and Antiques.
And Suzanne, who has starred in a version of the same play herself, helped them out with tips on costumes and the characters’ traits and personalities.
One of the members, Jo Banks, said everyone was excited to meet Suzanne.
She said: “we just all sat round in a circle and she was telling us about each character and what each actor or actress should bring to the role.
“She gave tips on the different kinds of personalities and how they should be portrayed.
“Suzanne talked about what they would wear so that helped us out a lot as well. She also spoke to us about stories about herself and her time in theatre. It was very interesting and she was lovely.”
Suzanne, who has starred in Phantom of the Opera, Fiddler on the Roof and The Sound of Music, was with the group for about two hours.
Jo said: “It was really good and I think she enjoyed herself as well. She even said she felt a bit nervous at the beginning which I was surprised by because she’s met all the big stars!”
Hartlepool Stage Society meets at Throston Community Centre, in Glamorgan Grove, on Tuesdays, with a kids session from 6.30pm until 7.30pm, and adults from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.
