PLACES are being snapped up fast for one of the biggest events in the Hartlepool sporting calendar.
But organisers of the annual Hartlepool Marina 5 Mile Road Race say there is still time to register.
This year’s run takes place on Sunday, April 7, and is organised jointly by Hartlepool Burn Road Harriers and Hartlepool Borough Council. It gets underway at 10.30am and begins and ends at Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience, following a route along the promenade to Seaton Carew and back.
Runners of all ages are expected to take part. The minimum age for entrants is 16 and there are several prizes in the male, female, senior and veteran categories, plus £75 prizes for setting a new course record.
Hartlepool Burn Road Harriers Chairman Jane Wistow said: “This is an excellent fast, flat course which suits all abilities”.
“The limit this year is 500, but there is a lot of interest and we would urge people to register as soon as possible.”
Entry forms are available at www.hartlepoolburnroad.co.uk or from Hartlepool Council buildings including Civic Centre, Mill House Leisure Centre, Summerhill and the town’s libraries.
Entries cost £10 if you are a member of a running club or £12 for anyone else. You can also enter on the race day itself from 9am onwards on board the paddle steamer Wingfield Castle at Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience – an additional £2 charge applies.
