A PROMISE to support a popular Hartlepool charity is still going on - three years later.

In 2012, staff at Matalan in Hartlepool voted to adopt Hartlepool & District Hospice as their chosen charity for one month. The team also started planning a detailed fundraising campaign.

But the support went on after that first month and has included staff taking part in the inter-store It’s a Knockout tournament.

More support has been given at Christmas when Matalan staff visit the Hospice to offer patients a chance to shop without stress. Hospice corporate fundraiser Carol Sennett said: “They are a fantastic team of people who all get behind their Hospice.

“This year alone the store has sold more than 250 hospice calendars.

“ This is a wonderful partnership and it is always a pleasure to visit the store and hear what they are planning next.”

Carol described the team at Matalan as “one of the most enthusiastic and kind hearted we have ever worked with” and thanked them for their continued help.
