A JUNIOR football team looked like real Bobby Dazzlers after kind sponsors bought them all new jackets for a big match.

Seaton Carew Junior’s Under 9 Lions side were given the weather-proof jackets by Stockton company Serco who have supported the club for a number of years.

The were bought them to wear for a cup final of the Durham Challenge Cup against Newton Aycliffe.

Team coach Sarah Moat said:

“The players were over the moon to receive a new jacket to mark their successful journey to the cup final.

“They will serve as a great reminder of their achievements this season. In this economic climate the team doesn’t have much money and otherwise wouldn’t have been able to purchase them for the players.”

Earlier, a team of Serco employees played in a fun charity match when they took on the Lions’ coaches at Hornby Park in Seaton Carew.

The match was the third annual event with Serco. The home side were victorious beating Serco 5-2 with Stuart Hope scoring all five goals.

Man of the match trophies were awarded in the clubhouse afterwards to Mark Finn from Serco and Dave Pattison from the Seaton coaches.

Sarah added: “The sponsors had a great time having the opportunity to play on the Wearside league standard pitch. They enjoyed the challenge and are up for a rematch, potentially in the Sports Domes in September.

“This is the third year of sponsoring the team and a bond has been created and they look forward to hearing about how they team are getting on and how they have progressed.”
