ENTERPRISING students have used their skills to support the community and 10 charities in the run up to Christmas.
The young people from the school of Health and Care at Hartlepool College of Further Education, in Stockton Street, Hartlepool, have joined forces to organise a Family Fun Day complete with Santa’s Grotto.
The much-anticipated event has been planned for Saturday, December 14, between 10am and 2pm.
The idea was developed by the students who wanted to do something to support some of the local charities in and around Hartlepool, but also bring some cheer to the residents.
The students have selected 10 local charities that support both children and adults.
And the warm-hearted bunch are hoping the funday will raise a minimum of £100 for each of the organisations.
The event will feature a Santa’s Grotto and a range of activities and stalls for both children and adults.
The activities include arts and crafts, sports, competitions, and sales of gifts and decorations.
There will be a café staffed by elves offering refreshments, and the Flagship restaurant will be offering a festive menu.
The students are also planning to provide a range of activities that are free as they are aware that family days out with children can sometimes be expensive.
One of the students Jack Wood, who attended a meeting to prepare for the event, said: “We want everyone to be able to come and enjoy the day and while we are trying to raise money for good causes we also want everyone to feel welcome.
“We don’t want anyone to feel they can’t come just because they can’t afford it.
“It will just be nice to see the Hartlepool community come together and join in the fun.”
Everyone, both young and old, is welcome to the event which will take place from 10 am until 2pm. For further details telephone the college on (01429) 295111.
