Weeping Hartlepool woman Pamela Spikins, 63, was back in the arms of the man she loves.
Husband David, 64, had made it safely back to the North-East from crisis-hit Libya after an epic six-day journey by coach, ferry, and plane.
He was unscathed, but with dramatic stories of the terror-strewn country he had left behind, of armed looters and days without sleep.
Speaking exclusively to the Mail, he said: “There were times when I feared for my life.”
