Teenager critical after serious assault at North East quarry - two arrested

At around 10.10pm yesterday, police were called to reports that a teenager, aged 15, had been assaulted at the quarry in Clara Vale, Gateshead.

Emergency services attended and the teenager was taken to hospital by paramedics where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Two teenage boys - aged 16 and 15 - have been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and currently remain in police custody.
