POLICE are due to re-open a road following a fatal smash earlier today.
The A689, just past the Sandsend roundabout towards the A177, in Sedgefield, was closed after it was closed when a teenager died in a road smash earlier today.
The west-bound side of the road is now re-opened and police said the east-bound carriageway was due to be opened by 1pm after debris from the road surface has been removed.
The road was closed at 7.50am following the two-car crash in which a 19-year-old Stockton man died.
Officers from Durham Constabulary are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen broken down Peugeot 406 along this road before 7.50am this morning.
Anyone with information is asked to call Police on 101 and ask for the accident unit or call Crimestoppers anonymously on (0800) 555111.
