Teenager due to appear in court over hoax 999 calls

A 16-year-old boy has been reported for summons in connection with making a "significant amount" of false 999 calls, police have said.

A Durham Police spokesman said the action had been taken against the teenager from Trimdon Village after the reports were made to police

They added: "We will take action against this type of behaviour - 999 is an emergency number and should only be used in a genuine emergency."
