Teenager locked up after attempted break-in

A TEENAGER has been locked up for six years after taking part in an attempted break-in.

Damian Alan Hadfield, 17, of Elgin Road, Hartlepool, was handed the sentence at Durham Crown Court after he admitted trying to force his way into a property in Trimdon Colliery, County Durham.

He pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated burglary on September 17 last year, as well as four other counts of burglary committed in Peterlee.

His co-accused Jason Thomas Kennedy, 20, of Eden Street, Horden, was also handed a custodial term of three years and 11 months.

He pleaded guilty to a total five counts of burglary.

Kennedy appeared at the same court hearing via video link. The sentences will both be served at a young offenders’ institution.
