Teenagers from the National Citizen Service (NCS) arranged a coffee morning and collection for the food bank in Hartlepool.
Numerous people attended the event and all the food collected was bagged up and taken to the food bank headquarters at Middleton Grange Shopping Centre to be weighed and stored.
Tomorrow, the NCS – which is open to all 16 and 17-year-olds in England and is aimed at helping them build skills for work and life, while taking on new challenges and meeting new friends – is holding The Cob Festival.
The event, at the Belle Vue Centre, runs from noon to 5pm, and aims to bring together people from different cultures and religions.
The day will offer food from around the world, music and dance.
The event will raise money for Hartlepool MIND.
