YOUNGSTERS enjoyed a spooky session and took part in a host of frighteningly fun activities.

Children from the Out of School Care Club (OSCARS), based in Miers Avenue, Hartlepool, got into the Halloween spirit for an action packed themed-day of games.

Almost 30 youngsters were transformed into witches, wizards, and other inventive spooky characters and enjoyed the event.

Staff were delighted with the turn-out and said they had just as much fun as the youngsters.

Karen Jones, assistant co-ordinator of the club, said: “We had a range of activities including games, apple bobbing, pumpkin and pepper carving, baking bats and a fancy dress competition.”

The fun session at the club was one of a number of haunting Halloween events organised throughout Hartlepool.

The OSCARS service, run by Hartlepool Borough Council, offers care for youngsters after school or during school holidays.

Children aged between three and 16 can enjoy the activities the club offers at Miers Avenue, or at the other OSCAR site in Hartlepool’s Wynyard Road.

The two sites will be merged and based at West Rugby Club, in Catcote Road, from March 2012.

Staff collect children after school and take them to one of the centres, where parents can collect them any time up to 6pm.

Children can also enjoy an impressive line up of activities during school holidays when parents can drop their youngsters off from 8.30am and have to collect them before 5.45pm.
