A MENTAL health team has won a prestigious award at an annual ceremony.
The occupational therapy team which provides mental health services for older people in Hartlepool and east Durham, won the Developing Excellent Services category at Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust's fourth annual Making a Difference awards.
It was chosen from 21 nominations. The team was presented with its glass award by trust chief executive Martin Barkley, for the tremendous difference they have made to the patients they care for.
The team has eliminated waiting lists and doubled the time staff are able to spend with their patients.
Mr Barkley said: "Over the last year staff have worked hard to ensure that the people who need our services receive the best possible care and support and they thoroughly deserve this recognition.
"I am very proud of the staff at Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust and I am delighted to honour our staff at this annual awards ceremony."
A total of 20 Making a Difference awards were presented to teams and individuals for their dedication and commitment to providing excellent care or support to service users, carers and colleagues.
