Supporters from all of the big three teams - Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Newcastle United - having snapped up tickets to help aid Pools bid to raise around £200,000 by January 25 to stave off the threat of administration.

Boro fans, in particular, have thrown their weight behind the bid to save the club, after Pools helped keep their neighbours afloat in 1986.

Tickets remain on sale, with the club office open from 10am to 4pm every day this week. They can also be bought at the club website.

A statement on the club website reads: "All supporters are urged to buy in advance for all areas of the ground as the game now looks likely to be a complete sell-out."
