People are being urged to help make Christmas special through the Mail’s annual gift appeal.
Over the years Give a Little Gift has provided hundreds of under-privileged children with Christmas presents to make the festivities special.
The Mail is again running the campaign in conjunction with MKM Building Supplies in Hartlepool and although people have been kind by donating presents, we want to make this Christmas really special and are calling for more.
Readers are asked to drop off unwrapped presents for youngsters less fortunate than themselves at the MKM base in the town’s Burn Road.
Don’t worry about breaking the bank. Small gifts such as cuddly toys, perfumes, shower gels and selection boxes are just as welcome as any bigger presents. Although people are showing huge kindness in donating secondhand gifts, we would prefer new gifts.
Mick Sumpter, a director at MKM Building Supplies Hartlepool, said: “As you can imagine we are getting closer to Christmas and time is running out, please do your utmost to support this appeal. “All the gifts will be passed onto Hartlepool organisations who work with children and their families.
“Hard to believe I know, but they will be children in Hartlepool who will wake up Christmas morning with no gifts to open.
“Please, please, please support this appeal and let’s make sure that doesn’t happen, go out today and buy that gift, a £5 gift can make a massive difference to a child this Christmas.”
People can bring gifts the town’s MKM branch on Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 5.30pm or Saturday morning 7.30am to noon.
