Tony Pulis looks set to bolster his squad as Middlesbrough close in on Everton duo

The Teessiders look set to land a double transfer swoop within the next few days, after holding advanced talks with Everton duo Yannick Bolasie and Mo Besic.

Both are available on loan until August 31, after Boro missed out on signing the pair permanently on transfer deadline day.

A deal for Bolasie, 29, appears to be close, after reports claimed the pacey winger was at Middlesbrough's training ground to hold talks with manager Tony Pulis.

Bolasie signed for Everton from Crystal Palace for £25million in 2016 but his career on Merseyside has been blighted by injuries.

And following the arrivals of Richarlison and Bernard at Goodison Park, Bolasie appears to be surplus to requirements under new manager Marco Silva.

A possible stumbling block is Bolasie's reported £70,000 a week wages, but the wideman's need to play first-team football could provide a compromise.

The DR Congo international worked with Pulis at Crystal Palace and will be seen as a potential replacement for Adama Traore.

Besic, too, was reportedly at Rockliffe last night but has returned to Everton for further negotiations.

The Bosnian midfielder was a key member of the Boro side which reached the play-offs last campaign, after arriving on loan in January.

Besic appeared to be on his way back to Teesside permanently on deadline day, only for the deal to collapse due to agent fees.

But, a deal seems to be back on track, with the 25-year-old midfielder also desperate for game time.

Boro are already well stocked in the middle of the park, with Adam Clayton, Grant Leadbitter, Jonny Howson, academy graduate Lewis Wing and new signing Paddy McNair all competing for places.

The Teessiders have made a blistering start to the new Championship campaign, taking 10 points from a possible 12 following their 2-0 victory over Bristol City on Saturday.
