Town centre car park work starts

A TOWN centre car park is to be closed for several weeks for improvement work.

The Basement Car Park adjacent to the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, Hartlepool, will be shut to both vehicles and pedestrians for around three weeks from today.

The £150,000 improvement scheme will include a full re-surfacing of the car park; re-marking of bays, pedestrian walkways and crossing points; creation of additional disabled parking bays; re-location of electric vehicle bays; better lighting; refurbishment of the fume extraction units and re-painting of walls and ducting units.

While work is being carried out, a temporary traffic management scheme will operate in the Westside Car Park, next to the Basement Car Park. But, on market days (Thursdays) there will be no access for vehicles to Westside from Villiers Street.
