Traffic on the A19.

TRAFFIC - 7.45am

Drivers on the A1 are facing delays after a car and a HGV were involved in a crash this morning.

It has happened on the northbound side of the road at Washington Services.

Lane of the road is blocked at present.

North East Traffic Live tweeted: "A1(M) northbound at #Washington Services.

"A HGV and a car have collided blocking lane 1."

On the A1231 Sunderland Highway eastbound there are delays at the Hylton Grange roundabout with tailbacks towards Barmston in Washington.

A19 traffic in the area is also starting to pick up in both directions.

Traffic is building up on the northbound side of the Tyne Tunnel at present.

North East Traffic Live tweeted: "A19 Northbound, traffic is building up approaching the Tyne Tunnel in Jarrow as we enter the rush hour."

Also in South Tyneside, on the A194 Leam Lane westbound traffic is building up on the approach to the A19 Lindisfarne roundabout from the B1300 John Reid Road junction.
