BOTH lanes of the A19 in County Durham are now reopen after closures due to crashes in thick fog.
The road was closed to both northbound and southbound traffic after the accidents between Peterlee and Castle Eden.
Durham Police say there has been one serious crash and three other minor collisions.
One man was taken to hospital with leg injuries, but there were no other casualties.
Seven fire engines were at the scene, along with several police cars.
The Durham Road Policing Unit said on its Twitter account: “Expect delays A19 closed north and south bound Seaham/Peterlee due to 3 RTC’s in heavy fog.”
It added: “No serious injuries but recovery of several vehicles will take some time.”
A spokesman for County Durham Fire and Rescue Service said: “Take care on the roads today, as driving conditions are hazardous.”
The northbound lane was reopened at about 1pm. Police have now confirmed the southbound carriageway is also reopen to traffic.
