RUSH-hour motorists faced disruption after a three vehicle smash closed one of Hartlepool’s main roads in both directions.
Two cars and a van were involved in the collision in Belle Vue Way at around 4pm yesterday.
One of the vehicles struck a lamppost, but no one was injured.
Police closed the A689 in both directions while they cleared the road causing long tailbacks to road users trying to get in and out of town.
One driver heading towards Greatham said: “It was very frustrating. Cars were trying to turn round on the verge to get out of it but all the roads around it were equally colgged up.”
A Renault Clio, Ford Mondeo and Ford Connect van were involved in the incident.
