Two taken to hospital after four-vehicle collision closes part of A19 for two hours
The northbound carriageway of the road closed between the A182 at Easington to the A1018 at Seaham for two hours, following reports of an incident in the area at around 8am on Friday, December 6.
Witnesses reported seeing an overturned car at the scene.
A motorist said traffic was “crawling” along the road in the aftermath of the collision, with up to 30 minutes of delays for drivers trying to get through.

Hide AdHighways England confirmed its attendance at the collision, along with Durham Constabulary’s Specialist Operations Unit for roads policing.
A force spokeswoman said: “Police were called to a four-vehicle collision on the A19 near Easington Services shortly after 8am”
The North East Ambulance Service confirmed that it sent a double-crewed ambulance and rapid response paramedic to the scene.
Two patients were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital. The road reopened at 10.10am.
