Hartlepool’s Hot Potato Comedy Club, based in Town Hall Theatre, Raby Road, has its final gig of the summer on Saturday, July 30.

Starring in it will be Mock The Week’s Angela Barnes and fellow TV comedian Paul McCaffery, who will share headline duties.

The MC for the gig will be Hartlepool favourite Matt Reed, with this the last show put on by the club until the new autumn season begins in September.

Peter Vincent, of promoters Ten Feet Tall, said: “We’re in for a top night here, and we’re chuffed to bits to be bringing Angela Barnes to Hartlepool.

“She’s always great to work with.

“She’s currently going down a storm on the new series of Mock The Week, and was one of the sharpest regulars on Channel 4’s Stand Up For The Week.

“One hundred per cent charming and lovable, Paul McCaffery is one of our absolutely favourite comics, and you’ll know him from a storming gig on Russell Howard’s Good News.

“And you always know you’ve got a top gig on your hands when Matt Reed is around. It’s a great way to round off our current season.”

Angela, 39, won BBC Radio 2’s New Comedy Award in 2011, and has been a regular on the circuit since then.

Among her appearances have been a slot on BBC Three’s Russell Howard’s Good News and Russell Kane’s Whistlestop Tour for Radio 2.

Meanwhile, she developed her own series with BBC Radio Comedy, and performed at festivals including the Latitude Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Radio 2 Live, in Hyde Park.

Paul, meanwhile, broke onto the comedy scene by winning the London Paper and the Latitude Festival new act competitions in 2009.

Like Angela, he has been heard on Russell Kane’s Whistlestop Tour, and is a regular guest on talkSPORT’s the Matt Forde Show.

He has also done studio warm-up for Channel 4’s the Morgana Show and ITV’s That Sunday Night Show, while he recently filmed the stand-up spot on Russell Howard’s Good News.

Finally, Matt is a favourite of the comedy club, having been a compere there for a number of years.

The show starts at 8pm, with ticket costing £9.
